Why is protein so important to our lives?

Adequacy would protein recommended for a person, generally different. This depends on your weight, age, and gender and the amount of tissue that is still active, such as muscles and glands. The larger and heavy man, the more active tissue, so the more protein is needed to sustain or maintain these networks.

Did You Know? That the protein is actually the largest component of the human body after water. Number 1 / 6 of the human body weight (1 / 3 of the amount contained in the muscle, 1 / 5 found on the bone, 1 / 10 found on the skin, and the rest are in various body fluids).

Protein needs can be obtained from the 2 sources of food of animal protein and vegetable protein. The best source of animal protein are meat from mammals, birds, and marine fish. Meanwhile, the best source of vegetable protein is from the beans. Even with technological advances, now developed a new protein sources familiar with non-conventional protein such as leaf protein, protein concentrates and single cell protein.

Proteins are composed of a number of amino acids. Amino acids that form proteins can basically be classified into 2 groups of essential amino acids (needed by the body but can not be formed by the body) and nonessential amino acids (needed by the body and the body can be formed when the material is available).

Mostly the proteins needed by the body as a builder substance, substance regulator and as a fuel. Builder substances, the protein is material to form new tissue in the body. Regulator substances, proteins participate in regulating the various processes in the body either directly or indirectly. Fuel, the protein will be burned when the body's energy needs are not met by carbohydrate and fat.
